STRESS 🤯😵

In DONE. I have so many things going on in school. Many teachers think that projects are FUN. As a student I do NOT think projects are fun. I have projects like for every class. Now I have homework with projects going on right now. OMG I'm looking forward to summer.

Masterpiece presentation

Atheist friend • Cause problems because religion is number one conflict • Why believe in something you cant see • People believe in science more. There is more facts.  Was a christain:  • Parents dont beleive in him • Does not answer to your prayers right away • You cant see God.  Catholic : • Can not give answers right away. Christain: • because people have been hurt • God does not give answers right away • people cant see God physically • dont know who really God is • people might not beleive in God because of tradition • believe more on science

My Best Writing

Right now that I have to choose two journals I looked my process of my writing. In the beginning I did not write as much as I do now. For me it is something really intresting I never thought I was going to improve. Anyways the first journal that I choose was back to the beginning of the school year. That journal was 8/15/18 our first journal. The first time we started write and get out thinking working. I choose this because it talks about how Dr. Preston left outside the classroom without knowing us. I never saw a teacher having so much trust to their new students. I also chose this because I like to see the process of my writing. The second writing journal is 3/1/19. That journal talks about who is important to me? I was only able to choose one. It is explains how I love my family, but God is someone who had helped me the most. That is why I chose from my journal. journals.

MONKEY SEE/ HEAR/ DO

The learning modalities are most effective for my master piece for my topic is auditory. Now my topic is more of an open opinions. Many people well have different opinions and I understand that. I just want to see or listen to all the different opinions of the class. That would be my learning modalities.

Brave New World Essay

In the book of Brave New World it was mostly about how people would be made for certain things and people couldn't do what they want. They all had to follow the rules of the leader because if you didn't you would get consequences. This life is so different from the actual human world. I say this because they are not allowed to give birth to kids. The only way they create babies are in tubes and other tools from the lab.  The main characters are Benard, John, Lenina, Linda, and the leader that runs the lab. One of the characters that stand out the most of being outward, but inward is John.    John is mostly the main character of Brave New World. John is a white man that is son of the director. He was also raised on the reservation which is different from the Utopia world. He is the savage and the most tragic hero. He was the only character that was born from his mom's stomach. John is a person who had to deal with a lot of problems. John is someone who is really notice

A Brave New End Of The World

Two big ideas that I got by reading the ending of the Brave New World which is in chapter 18 is to not let other peoples opinions get to you as well as to not let any of your fantasy dreams or ideas overcome you. I say this because as you can see in the last chapter John gets so hurt. He couldn't deal with anything else, but to kill himself.

The End Of A Brave New World

In chapter 18 once Helmholtz and Benard are exiled, John runs off to be alone. John goes to this lighthouse. Once John goes there he whips himself. He just wants to stop thinking of Lenia the way he does that is by whipping himself. That is the only way he could not thinking of her is by that way. Then once he does that there is this Photographer that thought it was funny to put it in a movie. John just wanted to be alone l, but people took him as a joke. When Lenina went up to him he was so mad that he hit her. People also saw that and they started to do the same as them because they thought it was funny. John then feels bad and he is just tired of his life and how they need to live. He decides to kill himself.

Ignite talk

My topic is about religion. I know not so many people talk about this can be a sensitive topic because some people do get offended. I say this because when I was a little girl in elementary and my classmates would talk about what they would do in church and sometimes they would ask me what I do. I was raised in church and my parents taught me that there is only one God which is our savior and creator of the earth. I am Christian so yes I do different things than other religion, but when I would explain to my classmates what I do in my church they would start getting mad at me just because I wouldn't do what they do. I have always been really involved in church since I was a little girl, but at first I dint really understand much about God and other things. Once I did understand things I thought everyone believed in God, but that's not true. I would have classmates that are atheist and would tell me that they dont belive in God. I was shocked or surprised when they would tell me

Brave New World Ch. 18 Notes

In this last chapter it talked about how John makes himself look crude, but brilliant for his claim why he is unhappy. Benard and Halmholtz were going to be sent to the island, but the controller canceled it because he wanted to continue with some experiment. The savage also sets himself to hermit in an aboned air lighthouse used for helicopters. He was discovering when he accedintly got whipped by one of the propellers. Then the reporters faked or lied about everything. John is also pushing himself in a sexual way to Lenina. He also hits her as well as himself. Then the next day John wakes up hating himself and wanting to kill himself. Once the new crowd comes they found out that he did kill himself. John killed himself because he couldn't support the savage or the utopia life. So, he decided to find the third way which was suicide.

Brave New World Ch. 17 Notes

Benard and Halmholtz still have to deal with John. John also insist that world paid a high prize for happiness by giving up  science and art. John sees everything normal that people believe in God. John has suffered of him escaping of civilized community. He was in the Indian reservation which he was treated equally. John sees that God is the one who gives consequences or rewards. The savage rejects the idea of pain, fear, and illness.

Brave New World Ch. 16 Notes

In chapter 16 in what I read was John was wandering around the office to examining Mustapha's things. John then finds a book called "My Life and Work". Mustapha talks to John about him not being a civilization. John says that alphas has to fo this work they would because more rebel and mad. John never understood what is science.

Brave New World Ch. 15

John leaves Linda deathbed and takes soma. John wants to do a challenge which is to leave soma. John explains to the deltas that soma is a poison and that the drug can be "freedom". John is still a savage that thinks that anyone can be free. Benard and helmoltez notice that John is going crazy because of the death.  They need to save John from the Deltas just stolen the soma which he did not like that. Even though the police comes and calls order on the new world no one follows the rules. All three of them get arrested. Benard is trying to escape and just trying to get consequences.

My Big Question Research

My Question: Why do some people think God does not exsist? https://www.wordonfire.org/resources/blog/how-to-prove-that-god-doesnt-exist/ https://www.reasonablefaith.org/writings/popular-writings/existence-nature-of-god/does-god-exist/ In his website I was shocked by what it says. How they don't believe in God and try to come up with facts that God does not exsist. I mean us as Christians we do that too we try to convince people that he exists. It's just so different how people think. I dont want to judge, but where do they get the info. I get the info by the bible. I was raised going to church so I know what I believe in. That's just what I think about it. Its not only atheist that think that. I mean other religion has a god, but does not think how I think. Many people are sometimes confused because they dont know what to belive in. Many people are raised in one religion, but once they are older they know what they want to be. I just googled "How to prove how God

Brave New World Ch. 14

In this chapter runs into love to death. John goes to the hospital that his mom is taken from taking so much soma. Many delta children think that death is a natrual process. Linda dies and John blastes tears. The nurses had to give him chocolate to make him calm down since he should think that it is a happy and natrual event.

Brave New World Ch.13

Lenina was upset because she couldn't have sex with John. At first they were in his apartment and John told Lenina that he wanted to prove something to her since she is really worth for. John wants to marry her. Lenina understands that John loves her so she rips of her clothes and wanting to do love. John gets so mad at her and calls her where and does not want to see her ever again. He thinks or says that sex is a vulgar.

Brave New World Ch. 12 notes

Bernard invites guest to meet the savage, but John refuses to get out the room.  The people start to feel contempt for Benard because he pretended to like John. Benard now goes back to how he was which he is a victim of the system. John likes Benard that way since he is not showing off. Helmholtz is a friend from John. He does not like Benard because he brings a Shakespearean metaphor, but he can't say much since he comes from Utopia too.

Book Club of One

Whenever we read I usually get confused, bit when we have the talks of asking questions and Dr. Preston answering them that's really helpful to me. I get a better understanding of what in the world is going on. That's my opinion about this.

Brave New World Ch. 11

Now Benard took over he is like a celebrity. It brings back how Benard and John are different from their experience of factory life and natural life. Also Lenina is attracted to John which he ignores her now. Benard is now like a celebrity which he is receiving all the attention. John does not like what he sees he is still the same person, but still he likes Lenina, but he does not know what to do since he cant get her attention.

Endgame

What I want learn and get good at so far from between now and June is that I want to read more interesting books. I actually like how we read in class and then when Dr. Preston is explaining. I am looking forward on finishing this book and read something interesting. I also want to find answers or just different opinions about my big question. My question was Why do people think that good does not exist? That's something I am really curious about.

Brave New World Ch. 10

In this chapter it starts in London which means John and Linda are there with Benard. The director was going to make an announcement abouts Benard that he moved to Iceland for his punishment of his sex life. So far the director knows that Benards emotional sons are greater because of the way he thinks. The director does not know what is going to happen which is going to bring memories from his past. Once Benard got the attention of the workers he called Linda up and the director just looked at her in a disgusted way as well as she did to him. Then, Linda told him that "he made her have a baby." When she said that it caused everyone to be horrified. Then John enters and tells the director "father". The director is horrified which that was the goal of Benard. People would also make fun of him by making jokes of Benard.

Brave New World Ch. 9 Notes

Lenina is disgusted about the reservation which causes her to take soma for 18 hours. Benard is now in Santa Fe to call Mond. Mond agrees that Linda and John are matter of the scientific interest in the world state. Mond tells Benard to go to the Warden of the reservation to release John and Linda into his care. John breaks through the cabin while Lenina is still in soma. John wanted to touch Lenina, but he was scared that it would defile her. As he is walking toward her Benard's helicopter was getting near John had ran away from them to hide his trespass.

Chapter 8 Quiz

1. Benard asked John to explain his life. He wanted to know how John was born and how his life is. 2. Linda sleeps with married men because she is used to doing that since she also did that in Utopia. 3. The popé brings Mescal to Lind. Mescal is sort of  a type of tequila. 4. John does not like the popé because he sleeps with his mom. How he reacts is that he just gets out of the house and gets angry with his mom. 5. The Shakespeare allusions is that he gives quotes in the story. John gets a book from the popé that is about Shakespeare. John uses the quote from Shakespeare to describe how there actually good people in this world that have come help the people in need and Benard is just using John to embarrass the director. 6. John feels alone because no one likes him in the reservation. He wanted to marry this girl that he really liked and he got denied. 7. John wanted to get crucified because he wants to get attention and feel honored from his community. 8. Benard's purpose

BQ thoughts 🤔

Back to business my question was "Why do people some people think God does not exist". I have thought about it sometimes just in my regular life. From there I don't really do much about my big questions

My Online Me

When I searched up myself I already knew many people were going to pop out. I'm guessing that more than 2 million have Maria as a name. I'm not sure about my last name though which is Magaña. When I searched up the name that I usually use is a soccer player. Which is not me because I don't like soccer. DON'T GET OFFENDED IF YOU LIKE SOCCER OK? Ok. I never knew there was a soccer player named Maria Magaña. That's something I learned today which is cool in my opinion. Now when I searched my full name which is Maria Fernanda Magana Flores there waz random people. What I mean is that there is no famous people at all. I thought I was going to be a character from a novel or something like that, but I'm not. Oh well that's cool I guess. I never thought I would search myself up, but that was a fun experience.

Brave New World Ch.8 Notes

Linda's son is telling his life to Benard. Jhon has a different perspective about life since he has different genetics and was mostly raised in the reservation. He also wanted to marry this girl that he was in loved with, but got denied. He also had to witness his mothers pain in Utopia when two Indian men went to her bed. The mother had to violate them since they did not follow the rules. He preferred to go to the Indian reservation since they have more knowledge about life not like Utopia. Benard can totally relate because he is different from the others as well. Benard wants to also take Linda and Jhon to London not just to take them out of the Indian reservation, but to embarrass the director. What I learned from the book is that the director is the father of Jhon.

GOOD MORNING 🌄 😁

I learned so much in class even though it was a short period. The blue letters from Dr. Preston's blog meant something. It was " You can't win if you dont play". Which this can mean if you don't try or do it you won't get your results or your goal. 3 habits that I will start doing is setting my clothes one day before so that it can be easy in the morning and just not waist time. Two is since I am tired of my alarm being to boring just waking me up with some "BEEP" noises I can start my day jamming. Third thing is that Dr. Preston got me thinking that I should set my Alan further from my bed so that I can try the feeling of just not going back to bed and being lazy. That's just me, What about you?

Racist

What we were talking in class today is interesting because Mario and Dr. Preston was sharing their ideas or emails and it made me think. How come in this book the author is a racist. He talks about the negros. At one of the chapters they talk about them. I'm still sort of confused on that topic, but I sort of understand.

Reading Me

Imma be honest I do not really read much. I only read when I find something intresting such as mystery books. I also read to my little sisters books before they go to sleep. Sometimes some books are just not for me. Some books can be intresting than other books.

Brave New World Ch.6

In this chapter Lenina and Benard are together. Lenina thinks Benard is weird because he is odd. She says this because Benard wants to be away from the crowd with no noise with her even though they are not making love. He is more of wanting to be free and not enslaved. Henry Foster is a guy that thinks Lenina is a piece of meat. Benard does not like that, but Lenina likes to be looked that way. Benard also tells Lenina all the odd desires that he has. He wants to feel strong and passionate. Benard wants to be an adult to wait for pleasure than right now as an infant. Lenina also wants to go with Benard to America to go for a savage reservation. A savage reservation is an opposite life of the Brave New World. Benard got consequences from the director since he does not live his life as others. That's what I got from ch. 6 in the reading. Brave New World Ch. 5

In this chapter on what I understood Lenina and Henry went to dinner and a night club. They were listening and dancing to music. Then Lenina and Herny got high with soma which is a type of drug to relax your mucells. Then they both had sex. Huxley in this chapter he explains that pregnancy is a sin, a crime ,and something disgusting to do in his world. Benard is a person that is single and just thinks everything is his fault.

Brave New World Ch. 3

This chapter goes back and forth on the view about love, sex, and the non existing of family. It talks about how kids play a game which is sex. Then for the adults you sex is just for happiness. In this story marriage is not a thing. They also change partners every time with no reason.

To be honest I am sometimes lazy. I know that it's not good, but I do get things done no matter what. In emergencies I would do anything I can. That's my own personal life.

We Are Living in the Brave New World

Three things that in the video are bad that Aldous said was media, drugs, and propaganda. Even though it was hard to understand what he was saying he did not agree with all of these 3 things. Media is something that does keep you to update, but if you are in technology all day there is a possibility that can cause you to be dumb. Drugs are something that people use such as medication or smoking marijuana or other types of drugs. Now for propaganda, a good example is Donald Trump. People might not know what is actually going on and people just go with it. I agree with Aldous too because that's the true about all of this.

Brave New World 🌎

How do you imagine your future? Well it be the same or different? What I have seen is that once you are older you get more mature. You are able to take more responsibility than a teen. You are able to handle and make decisions on your own. What adults say is that life gets way harder. Maybe because of all the things they have to in there schedual. Like I said in my other post you will not know how your future will be, but you can already see the obvious things. You will have a busier schedule than know. Let me just tell you that life is not going to be easy for anybody.

HAFTA/ WANNA

As I know right now I can't really tell you what my life during high school and after high school will be. I am not a person from the future that can tell you what is going on. What I can tell you is that there can be a lit change. It might be if your mentality grew or the you act. People are different and you are the only one that can decide of you want to change or not. What I have seen is that students or older people do take things more serious and their actions are not childish. For my personal life I might stay the same, but I would be more mature. Not because I older means I'm going to stop having fun and being funny. Many people might change completely that is something tht no one knows. Once we graduate from high school you become adults something that we will be pretty soon which is year 2020. Now once you graduate you are going to have a busy schedule. You might have a jobs, school , gym and more. Like I said you are going to change no matter what if it's somethi

What's So Great about Gatsby

1. Gatsby is great, but he did dumb things for love. He did not realized what he was doing which his life led to death. 2. Nick at first is honest with himself, but once he meets Jordan he starts to be dishonest. He hangs out with dishonest people because he wants to I mean no one forces him to do it. He seeks out relationships with them because those are his only friends. 3. To what the quote says I agree because Daisy and Tom would always do whatever they want to do. They never cared about wasting money or destroying relationships. 4. To be honest Daisy is weird so no I do understand her behavior. I don' agree to any of her choices. She wouldn't care about anything and just do what people would.tell her to do. Oh hello no I would not let my brother, son , or friend to date. 5. "So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past." This means that it tells us who we are.

Chapter 5 & 6 The Great Gatsby Notes

Vocabulary Bootleggers- people who sold the illegal alcohol Menagerie- collection of animals Chapter 5 review Basically Daisy is happier when she is with Gatsby than Tom. Daisy is more happier and had a different attitude with Gatsby. Gatsby invites Daisy to his house for some tea. Chapter 6 In this chapter you can truly see that Daisy has never liked Tom. Gatsby kissed Daisy which is another proof that they want to be together. Daisy in this chapter invited Gatsby to her house, but Ton got jealous. What is dumb in my opinion is that he has an affair with Mrs. Wilson. So I dont see why he should be saying something when he is doing the same thing.

The Great Gatsby Chapter 5 Notes

What I read in this chapter it was basically Gatsby wanting Daisy back. For it talks about how Nick sees Gatsbys house so bright like if it was burning. Then they were swimming in the pools. Gatsby wanted to tell the plan to Nick so that he can invite Daisy for some tea. Gatsby also wanted someone to cut his yards grass. He also wanted to offer Nick money  from the business that he is on, but does not have to do anything with Mr. Wolfshiem. Nick does not want to receive money because he just wants to help Gatsby with no cost. But they still do the plan of inviting Daisy over. The day Daisy was going to go over to Gatsby's house he was nervous because he was thinking that nothing was going to between them. Once the first meeting between them two was awkward, but then they started to see each other more and start getting along. Then one day the rain stop and Gatsby was talking about his luxury goods to Daisy and Nick, but then things started to be different so Nick left and Gatsby an

Chapter 2 • Who was the person that Tom broke their nose? • Does Nick meet a friend in the party? If so who is it? Chapter 3 • True or False does Jordan lie? • Does Nick like Jordan? Chapter 4 • Does Nick make a favor to Gatsby? If so what was the favor? • Does Gatsby like Daisy? If so then explain why?

Gatsby Chapter 4 Notes

The "TRUTH" that Gatsby told Nick about his situation in life or his past. Then Nick tells him about his life and things when he was serving for ww1. This all happened when they were riding to New York. Then not only that happens, but Jordan also has something to say. Jordan told Nick that she lies all the time and never told the truth.

Gatsby Notes

2/5/19 What I understood from chapter 3 on what I read is that Nick and Jordan are in a party and they see Gastby away from the party. In my opinion it is weird because he is a party person and he also does not drink. Many people get drunk in these parties and they are big parties as well. What really got my attention is that Gastby was away from his party that he did.

NICK'S CARDINAL VIRTUE

In chapter 3 gets really interesting. Cardinal virtue are four things in one word which is justice, prudence, temperance, and fortitude. Nick is a man that goes to New York to bond with business. That's not the only thing he does he meets new people, but in this chapter he goes to a party that he gets invited by Gatsby. He thinks that the rich people are fake, but he was surprised when he touched the book and was real. He thought it was fake, bit apparently it's not. I feel like Nick is being arrogant because he is getting into others business.

Gypsy pgs. 1-25 (chapter 1)

I had to read chapter 1 since the begging to know what was going on. Now there was so many things going on. We got introduced to many people such as Nick, Tom, Daisy, Gypsy, Miss Baker, and the Bucker. In the story it sort of describes each character. Nick is a man that was serving in the war and was sent to New York to bo d with business. Then he meets new people. Tom is a man that us rich as well.as Daisy. They are both together. Tom is more of a racist person he usually sees people by the way they look especially the color. Daisy is the wife of Tom and she has no emotions. She is not responsible. She does not care about her baby she also wishes that her baby is a fool. Who in the world wishes that to your daughter? Why I know only her. Miss Baker she is a lady that is a friend of Daisy. She mostly helps Tom and Dasiy. Gypsy is a man that throws parties. He earns money by a criminal activity and he falls in love with daisy and he is described as dishonest. That's what I learned f

Great Gatsby Notes 2

In the story today what called my attention is the family which I would call them crazy. In the story Daisy is a woman that is not responsible and she has no emotions. She has a baby and she does not even take care of her. Tom is a man that is selfish. Mrs. Baker is more of a liar. I would never imaged a family existed like that. Divan- couch.

Hopepunk

What is Hopepunk? So many people may be asking what is Hopepunk? Well today you will know what it means. Hopepunk is a storytelling template for resistance. This matters to authors because they have to have some type of template to tell the story to the audience. In every book or movies it tells a story so, to make the story understandable you have to tell what is going on.

MY SYMBOL

20th Century Writing Styles

Genre- is a category such as music and literature Naturalism- something that is not cause by you or others Realism- A thing or situation that is true in life Modernism- someone's thoughts, expressions, or technique The difference between each word is that they all mean different.

Down the Rabbit Hole

I chose this because I mean everyone has a friend that might not last or even for a reason you stop becoming friends. Now if you put art into it I wonder why its difficult? Is it because it hurts that you and your "friend" are not friends anymore or what makes it difficult? In this article I could relate. He was hurt because his "friend" was not helping him, but he was talking bad about him. My situation was sort of similar to that. It hurts when you call a friend a Friend when they are actually fake. It's so cool that he was able to write a book relating to his situation. Not that his problem is cool, but how he was able to express himself.

Notes from Todays Lecture

VOCABULARY ETHOS: characteristic spirit of a culture, era, or community as manifested in its beliefs and aspirations EX: An advertisement PATHOS: speakers emotion EX: MLK or even teacher teaching LOGOS: is a way of persuading an audience with reason, using facts and figures EX: Notes about the MLK video What I understood is that he was saying that America life had not brought good things to negros. He also said that black and white are equal. He was also saying that they will not be satisfied once they change the laws about African american people. The part when he said "I Have a Dream" he is basically wishing all the things that he said will happen. That's what I understood about his speech.

THE WORLD IS MY LIBRARY

Novels:  "The Most Dangerous Game" by:  Richard Connel "Of Mice and Men" by: John Stienbeck Explanation:  I chose these novels because it reminds me when I was a freshman. I liked these novels because they were really interesting and it just got my attention. Short stories: " The Very Hungry Caterpillars" by: Eric Carle " No David" by: David Shannon Explanation: I remember these books when I was in kinder. I still remember when I was reading those. I always liked those books and I still do.

How to Get to Graceland

My experience is better when its shared. I probably read or did a math problem a different way. I like to learn from other ideas too. I sometimes learn better when others share their ideas. Many people learn by themselves, but I am a person that learns when people share ideas.

Strike

In LA right now teachers are in strike. Teachers don't want to teach because they don't get paid enough by the amount of kids that they are teaching. Teachers dont want to teach 500,000 students. In my opinion I think that's a lot. I think the teachers are doing good because I think it's unfair to teach that big amount of kids so that they wouldn't get paid enough.

Does Gaceland qualify as American Literature?

Literature is collect of writings of a group of people In my opinion I think Graceland does apply to American Literature because he was a singer that wrote the songs. Now writing songs could sort of be like poems. He was an American person that would write songs. American Literature consists of poetry and theater. Now writing his own songs has his own inspiration and expresses what he feels so, I could say that could be a poem.
