In my opinion I think Graceland does apply to American Literature because he was a singer that wrote the songs. Now writing songs could sort of be like poems. He was an American person that would write songs. American Literature consists of poetry and theater. Now writing his own songs has his own inspiration and expresses what he feels so, I could say that could be a poem.
